KATHMANDU, FEB 21: The government is preparing to form separate development committees for different communities including Badi, Dalit, and backward class people.
Minister for Federal Affairs and General Administration Rajendra Shrestha said he has presented a proposal to form Badi Development Committee, Dalit Development Committee, and Backward Class Development Committee at the Cabinet.
While addressing a function organized by National Inclusion Commission on Sunday Minister Shrestha said the development committee would be appropriate for the welfare of the Dalit community despite the presence of the Dalit commission and therefore the proposal was presented at the Cabinet.
He said his proposal was under discussion at the Administration Committee of the Cabinet and he was confident that the Council of Ministers would soon endorse it.
“I have also proposed Badi Community Development Committee and I believe that the development committees for backward class people would also help a lot in their upliftment besides Dalit committee,” said Shrestha.
Minister Shrestha said he has also proposed a separate committee for the Khas-Arya community and the proposal is also under discussion for now.
