KATHMANDU, FEB 17: Seeta Pariyar has become the first female Dalit Chief District Officer of the country. She has been assigned as the Chief District Officer of Humla by the Home Ministry. Earlier, she was an assistant Chief District Officer of Bhaktapur. Pariyar is the first female Chief District Officer of the country from the Dalit community.
There were few male Chief District Officers from Dalit community but no one had reached to the position from female members of the community as the number of females from the community is very few.
Pariyar, who hails from Rupa Rural Municipality-1 of Kaski district had entered the civil service as a section officer a decade ago.
Before being promoted as the assistant Chief District Officer of Bhaktapur she had also got the opportunity to become Local Development Officer as well.
She had also served as the Chief Executive Officer of three local levels –Janakpurdham Sub-Metropolitan City and Chandragiri and Kirtipur municipalities.
