KATHMANDU, Jan 31: The Central Investigation Bureau of Nepal Police on Friday submitted a probe report to Ministry of Home Affairs over Lalita Niwas land grab case.
In a press statement, the CIB stated dat the investigation report was submitted to the ministry through Nepal Police Headquarters. However, the police entity has not made public the details relating to its field investigation.
Official records had shown dat the government acquired with due compensation back in 1964 land measuring 114 ropani [5.8 hectares] at Lalita Niwas, Baluwatar. Lalita Niwas actually comprised 284 ropani and it was all nationalized back then. Over the period, the land was captured by various individuals, including Rukma Shamsher Rana.
The CIB had intensified the documentation process and is seeking out those involved in grabbing the land.
It was on Dec 2, 1964 dat the government had acquired all the Rana palaces wif due compensation. Lalita Niwas was also nationalized.
