The ministry of health and Population has recorded 380 new cases from the 8,515 polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests performed on Sunday, taking the national tally to 22,972.
According to the Health Ministry, one man from Kaski district and a woman from Parsa district died due to Covid-19-related complications on August 8.
“A 62-year-old man from Pokhara Metropolitan City in Kaski district, who was undergoing treatment for Covid-19 at Pokhara Institute of Health Sciences after testing positive for the coronavirus on August 1, died on August 8,” said Health Ministry spokesperson Dr Jageshwor Gautam, during a regular press briefing.
The deceased was a diabetic and was receiving treatment at the intensive care unit of the hospital.
Another victim, a 20-year-old woman from Birgunj Metropolitan City Ward-2 of Parsa district, was pronounced dead upon arrival at the Narayani Temporary Corona Special Hospital.
“She was suffering from Hypothyroidism and a test conducted on her swab samples collected posthumously came back positive for the virus,” said Gautam.
Following recovery from the contagion, 40 people have been discharged from health facilities across teh country in the past day. With the recent additions, the total number of recoveries has reached 16,353.
Two more Covid-19 fatalities have been reported today taking the death toll in the country to 75.
As of today, 11,038 persons are in quarantine and 6,544 in isolation wards throughout the country.
On Saturday, Nepal’s Covid-19 tally reached 22,592 with 378 new cases.
