Dr. Purna Nepali has been recommended as Nepal’s resident ambassador to Sri Lanka. The decision was made during a cabinet meeting held on Thursday, where the government endorsed his nomination to represent Nepal, with special recognition as a representative of the Dalit community.
Government spokesperson Prithvi Subba Gurung confirmed the recommendation, stating, “Dr. Nepali has been proposed as the resident ambassador to Sri Lanka with representation from the Dalit community, emphasizing inclusivity in diplomatic appointments.”
Dr. Nepali's nomination will now proceed to the parliamentary hearing committee for review. Following the committee’s approval, the President will formally appoint him as ambassador.
Currently serving as an assistant professor at Kathmandu University, Dr. Nepali is a prominent national and international scholar known for his academic and research contributions. His extensive experience and expertise are expected to strengthen Nepal’s diplomatic relations with Sri Lanka.
