Virginia, USA - The first meeting of the Executive Committee of the Federation of International Journalists, America (FIJA) was conducted virtually. Chaired by Federation President Ram Prasad Khanal, the meeting convened advisors, office bearers, and board members from across the United States, Nepal, and Canada via video conference.
During the meeting, esteemed advisors such as senior journalists Yogesh Upadhyay, Purushottam Dahal, Dr. Bal Krishna Chapagain, Puru Ghimire, and Bijay Ghimire offered comprehensive suggestions for shaping the organization's future direction.
Vice-Chairpersons of the working committee, including Akhand Bhandari, Jibaram Bhandari, Kedar Koirala, Tanka Panta, and Satish Chapagain, shared insights on various organizational dimensions, emphasizing FIJA's potential to address challenges within the journalism field.
General Secretary Tanka Dahal, Secretary Anil Adhikari, and Board members Bishwa Raj Thapa, Dinesh Karki, Nawaraj Kunwar, Anil Thapa, and Suman Dahal also underscored the significance of FIJA's formation and its diverse facets.
President Ram Prasad Khanal highlighted the collective effort required to strengthen FIJA's role as an international advocate for journalistic integrity. He outlined plans to establish national branches worldwide, including a forthcoming initiative in Nepal.
Decisions made during the meeting included assigning Secretary Anil Adhikari to formulate membership criteria and appointing Dinesh Karki to oversee data management for building a global network of journalists. Furthermore, preparations are underway for a comprehensive directory and online publication, "Who is Who?".
The meeting concluded with a commitment to collaborate with global journalism organizations to promote journalistic rights and interests. General Secretary Tank Dahal was tasked with drafting nomination letters, creating identity cards, and developing the organization's website.
