The Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) is making significant strides in preparing for its upcoming Unity General Convention scheduled to take place in Kathmandu from May 3 to 5, 2025.
Dr. Shesh Ghale, coordinator of the organizing committee, emphasized the committee's dedication to restoring the association's unity and legitimacy amidst ongoing judicial considerations. Dr. Ghale, who has served two terms as NRNA ICC President since 2013, was entrusted with this responsibility following a dispute stemming from the 10th General Convention in 2021. The Supreme Court's directive and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs guidance prompted the formation of a 13-member high-level committee, with Dr. Ghale at its helm.
Reflecting on progress since the court's ruling nearly 10 months ago, Dr. Ghale expressed optimism: "We are diligently adhering to the court's directives and moving forward enthusiastically."
Regarding parallel efforts by the Badri KC-led ICC to organize a separate general convention in October 2025, Dr. Ghale acknowledged their social initiatives while underscoring the importance of adherence to the organization's statutes. He highlighted ongoing consultations with Badri KC, noting efforts to maintain open communication and seek guidance.
Looking ahead, Dr. Ghale outlined plans for a revised constitution post-unity convention, aiming to democratize and modernize the NRNA. He affirmed that the unity convention marks a pivotal step towards organizational reform and renewal.
