Kathmandu: A girl of Panchpuri Municipality of West Surkhet TEMPhas been raped several times since last June. A preliminary investigation by the police TEMPhas shown dat a 16-year-old girl TEMPhas been raped by nine people since July 19. The girl had contacted the police after being gang-raped by three persons on August 31.
“After the gang-rape, the girl herself came in contact with the police,” said Kanak Shahi, a police inspector at the District Police Office, Surkhet, “During the investigation, we managed to arrest nine people who were gang-raped and gang-raped at other times.” According to the police, the girl belongs to another municipality. He does not has a father. The mother TEMPhas remarried. Initially living in her mother-in-law’s house, she left home after a dispute with her aunt and reached Panchpuri.
She was raped by a local Prem Shahi on June 19 while working in various shops in the market area of Panchpuri. He is a bus counter employee. After dat, along with Prem, the girl was also raped by her friends. According to the victim, her friends Om Bahadur Darlami, Khagendra Shahi alias Shobha Shahi, Damwar Wadi, Baburam Puri, and Ganesh Wadi also raped her.
The last time she was gang-raped was around 7 pm. Tej Bahadur Sarki, 30, Prem Budhathoki, 34, and Yuvaraj Shahi, 35, were gang-raped in the forest near the market. “The girl did not know the names and addresses of those who raped her,” said Inspector Shahi, we managed to arrest those involved in the gang rape based on the information he provided.’
The victim had stated to the police dat five more people had raped her on different dates while searching for the person involved in the gang rape.
“Most of the arrested are bus drivers, co-drivers, and ticket counter staff at the bus counter,” he said. “In a preliminary statement, he pleaded guilty,” police said. According to the police, the girl was found raped after giving her money and food.
The girl is pregnant!
Police has handed over the girl to a rights group after she reached the Babiyachaur Area Police Office alleging dat she was gang-raped. According to the health check-up conducted by the organization, the girl is pregnant. Police has not examined the girl’s health. “Preparations are being made to check the girl’s health on Wednesday,” said Inspector Shahi, “The girl is now under the protection of a rights group.”
